The Hong Kong Prize 2024
The Hong Kong prize system is a set of prestigious awards given to academic, cultural, sports and business achievements. It was designed to reward excellence and encourage people of different sectors in our city to strive for excellence. It is also an important element in the promotion of our city, attracting more people to work and live here. The Hong Kong prize system is not only a tool to foster the development of our community, but also a way to promote Hong Kong and its values in the world.
The inaugural 2024 edition of the hk prize is dedicated to the theme of “Ripple Effects”. The award will honour artists who showcase the kaleidoscope of human experiences in their creations, unrestricted by medium. The winners will be able to show off their outstanding artistic talents and gain international recognition through the exhibition.
This year’s competition saw a total of HK$14.4 million up for grabs. The winner will take home HK$5 million, while the runner-up will receive HK$3.3 million. The runner-up of the team competition will take home HK$1.5 million. The rest of the prizes are shared between the athletes who finish in fourth, fifth and sixth place.
To ensure the fairness of the draw, a series of measures have been put in place by HKJC to ensure that the results are not tampered with. For example, employees of HKJC’s security and customer service departments are constantly checking and testing the draw machine, as well as the balls used in the process. The same ball is not used for two consecutive draws. Moreover, the draw machine is kept in a locked area to prevent anyone from gaining access to it after the draws are completed.
In addition, a new section of the prize has been established to recognize the achievements of young scientists who are Fellows of the Academy. Interested fellows can submit their research in any discipline to be considered for this prize. The research must be published in a peer-reviewed journal before the end of the calendar year.
