What is Result SGP?
Result sgp is an indicator of student achievement that compares a student to his or her academic peers. A student’s average student growth percentile (SGP) is calculated relative to students in the same school and district who tested at the same time. The student’s academic peers do not need to be in the same subgroup (e.g., by race/ethnicity, special education, multilingual learning). The student’s SGP is based on his or her MCAS scores from the spring at the school/district. Students who transfer to a new school or district in grade 10 are included in the student growth percentile calculation, but their SGP is based on grades 8 through 9 and/or grades 10.
In addition to being a useful tool for assessing educational progress, the SGPA also serves as a good measure of the effectiveness of schools and districts. Using a combination of student performance measures and growth indicators, the SGPA can help identify the areas where a school or district is strongest and which areas may need additional support. The SGPA provides valuable information to parents and educators about the academic progress of students and can help them determine what steps are needed to improve student achievement.
The SGPA report includes detailed descriptions of student performance and growth for each enrolled student. The report also shows the percentage of students who are meeting and/or exceeding expectations in each subject area. These percentages can serve as a benchmark to guide the development of a personalized education plan for each student.
